CATWALK Art Residency

Participation is for faculty and alumni from Columbia University, New York University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Vassar College. Applications are by recommendation through each institution. The mission of the Catwalk Art Residency is to establish Catwalk as a special retreat for art making.  Residents are selected by participating institutions that have been invited to be members of the Catwalk Advisory Committee.  Artists, writers and and creative practices of all types are considered for the residency through application processes at each institution.  Residents come to stay at the property from Spring through Fall in private living spaces with separate studio spaces available for use across the property. Full use of the grounds is encouraged along with exploration of the Catskill and Hudson area.  Projects that are collaborative or that connect to the region specifically are especially appropriate for selection.

CATSLAIR

Acquired in 2013 the property provides a private and secluded compound extending the sublime Hudson River views of the Catwalk estate’s northern boundry. Initially there are three work/live spaces with ample common area for group mingling,  event gatherings and  relaxation. CATSLAIR is ideal for collaborative and multi disciplinary projects. Special consideration will be Artists and scholars with independent institutional support or grant funding who are able to pursue longer term  sabbatical and thesis projects  exploring conceptual and creative issues  focused on aspects of nature imbedded in  Hudson Valley landscape and ecology. Residencies will be offered throughout the full year.
