Situated on a magnificent historic site spanning 70 acres of the Hudson River, CATWALK is a special retreat for art making, collaborative projects, and scholarly discourse in a visually stimulating part of the country. Participation is for faculty and alumni from Columbia University, New York University Steinhardt, New York University Tisch School of the ArtSchool of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Vassar College. Artists, writers, and and creative practices of all types are considered for the residency through application processes at each institution. Full use of the grounds is encouraged along with exploration of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley. Projects that are collaborative or that connect specifically to the region are especially encouraged. Residencies are space/time grants designed for reflection and personal artistic growth. Spaces include a fully outfitted kitchen and individual studio spaces. Please note project stipends are not available. Residents are encouraged to bring or rent a car during their stay.
